Reliable attorneys will advocate for you using thought-out and organized arguments. However, not every attorney is reliable. This video gives expert tips on how to spot red flags in lawyers.
If the attorney solicited you then do not hire them. For example, if you get in a car accident and an attorney calls you up to say he’ll work the case for you, ignore it. Attorneys are not allowed to solicit clients, by law.
The second red flag is if they promise you a certain number during initial consultations or very early on in the case. There are a ton of factors that go into a legal case, and the attorney will not be able to give an accurate estimation of your potential settlement without putting in a substantial amount of work.
Another red flag is if you can’t get a hold of the lawyer or their firm. Sometimes the attorney will be busy and unable to take your call, but you should be able to leave a message and get a callback in a reasonable amount of time. This is also something you should get a clear idea on during initial consultations. Ask them how long it typically takes to get back to clients and hold them to it.
